Compassion Canada

Compassion’s Mission – To release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

Specific Ministry – We are currently partnered with their Child Survival Programs in Leon, Nicaragua. Nicaragua is considered one of the poorest and least developed countries in Central America and this is reflected in the fact that four times as many babies die during their first year of life in Nicaragua compared to Canada and nearly eight times as many women die from pregnancy-related causes compared to Canada. In response to this reality, a Child Survival Program works through a local church in Leon to deliver contextualized solutions to the problems faced by mothers and babies living in extreme poverty. Local church staff are trained to be the hands and feet of Christ, providing care and support to women and babies during pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood. As these mothers and children escape desperate poverty, they and their families are also introduced to new life in Christ.
