Update: June 1, 2015
Thank you each one for praying as we met with the oncologist today. We left the consult feeling encouraged, and therefore hopeful. The cancer cells taken from the biopsy in April will be tested to see if Connie is a candidate for “molecular therapy”. Here is our lay understanding:
Some cancers respond to drugs targeted at the molecular structure. The side effects of such drugs are less severe than traditional treatments, making it desirable. There is a 20% chance that her cancer would respond to this particular treatment. It will take several weeks to complete the tests.
If Connie’s cancer does not fall in that 20% then we have the chemotherapy option to consider. The oncologist is positive about meeting our goals for the July wedding. Praise the Lord. Please pray with us that the tests will show “targeted therapy” as a suitable treatment.
Ian, on Connie’s behalf
