Global Action

Jesus commissions his followers to “make disciples of all nations” and this has been a top priority for the Evangelical Free Church of Lethbridge. Our Global Missions Team is committed to supporting the spread of the gospel beyond the Lethbridge area, including other parts of Canada and around the world.

Jason & Andrea Miller

Sending Agency: Evangelical Free Church of Canada Mission (EFCCM)

Serving Field: Faith Academy

Location: Manila, PHILIPPINES

What a joy to wake up and go to a place where missionaries and other like-minded parents are hoping that I will train their children in the gospel and knowledge of the Lord Jesus and his Word.  Teaching Bible and being chaplain at an MK school is unlike any other youth ministry job in the world!  As a family we get to meet people, try foods from many cultures, and be involved with a church that is also teaching the nations.  My wife is also helping raise our sons to be active in the Kingdom.  It is a good life.  Thank you, Lord.  Youth workers of Lethbridge, join us!  Email for discussion of opportunities.

Lane & Sheri Elliott

Sending Agency: Serving In Mission (SIM)

Location: Calgary – Red Deer Corridor, Alberta, CANADA

SIM wants to see a witness to Christ’s love where He is least known, disciples of Jesus expressing God’s love in their communities, and Christ-centred churches among all peoples. Lane contributes to this vision by helping reach immigrants who come to Canada and settle in the Calgary – Red Deer corridor in Alberta.

The Elliotts also travel to northern Mexico each year to evangelize the migrant workers of southern Mexico.  Thousands of young men travel from southern Mexico up to the north each spring to harvest grapes in the vineyards surrounding the city where the Elliott family used to live full time.  Lane plays a Christian film after the labourers come in from their work and then after the film, Lane preaches the gospel to hundreds of young men who do not know the Lord Jesus.

International Justice Mission Guatemala Project Summary

International Justice Mission (IJM) is a global Christian organization that protects the poor from violence. They accomplish this by partnering with local authorities to rescue victims of violence, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors, and strengthen justice systems. Our church has formally partnered with IJM since 2014 and, beginning in 2020, we decided to focus our support on their Guatemala project. While Guatemala is a place of natural beauty, IJM reports that “there is a hidden plague of sexual violence against women and children.” They report that 1 in 5 girls are sexually abused at least once in their lives and 65% of victims in reported cases of sexual violence are children. Human rights experts said the system was too broken in Guatemala to protect people in poverty, but IJM has worked tirelessly since 2005 to meet this challenge. Their efforts have resulted in stronger laws against sexual violence and a new Sex Crimes Unit being launched, evidence of a country getting serious about tackling this crime. The IJM Guatemala field office has now asserted themselves as a strategic hub of operations in Central America, and we are joining their efforts to establish a Northern Triangle Hub, which encompasses the countries of Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. This regional hub will allow IJM to scale its work and footprint in Central America and ignite a transformational movement of justice and protection for women and children across the region.
