How do you know if you are making a good decision?

That is a question that worries me everyday in the middle of our topsy-turvy world.

When I am making decisions – particularly strategic ones for this church family that I love – I long to know all the factors.  During this season it has felt like I am making decision after decision in a timeframe where all the information cannot be known.

Generally, when we make decisions, even in the most stable of times, we cannot know their outcomes.  We “think” that we know what is going to happen but only our gracious Heavenly Father knows the future.

In this time of great upheaval, I am confronted with my own limitations.  And this is good and right, and humbling.  In this place of humility, I have to fully trust God.  And He is the only one that can bring me true comfort during this time.

I have been mediating on this amazing verse from Proverbs 3:5,6…

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
    do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
    and he will show you which path to take.

In the midst of all these unknowns I am trying to be faithful to hear the voice of God.  I am so thankful in times like these that I can trust God.  My heart is for Him, and my heart is for our church family.  If we try to follow the voice of God, and don’t depend on our own understanding, God promises He will show us the path to take.

I am trusting Him for that.  Will you?

Warmly,

 Geoff
